Your EV charger is a significant purchase, and its warranty is part of what you are buying. This article explains the warranty periods, what to keep, and how to use the charger in a way that fits the terms. For the exact terms that apply to your order, confirm them with EVIQO before you buy.
Standard and extended warranty periods
EVIQO Level 2 chargers come with a 3-year standard warranty. A 4-year extended warranty is available for an extra charge. If you want to add it, let the EVIQO team know when you send your request, so the option is included in your order.
Keep your proof of purchase
Save your order confirmation, receipt or other proof of purchase in a safe place. Keep the date and the model you bought together with it. You may need this record if you contact support about the charger. Store a copy somewhere other than the garage, such as a cloud folder or an email account you use often.
Use the charger as intended
Install and use the charger according to its documentation. Hardwired work should be done by a licensed electrician, and local permits or inspection may apply. Use a circuit that matches the charger's rating, and do not connect the charger through an extension cord or power strip. Keep the cable in good condition, and stop using the charger if you see damage.
Why a three-year window is worth planning for
Three years is a long time to keep track of paperwork, especially when a charger is installed in a garage and rarely looked at. Set a calendar reminder for the end of the standard period, and put the proof of purchase in the same folder as your installation records. If you have chosen the extended option, note the longer end date instead.
Ask before you assume
Warranty terms are the reference for coverage. Do not assume that a particular problem is or is not covered. Describe the problem to EVIQO support, and a manager will confirm the warranty details for your order. Keeping a clear record of what happened and when makes that conversation easier.
What to have ready when you contact support
- The model you bought and the date of your order.
- Your proof of purchase or order confirmation.
- A short description of the problem, including when it started.
- Any error text or status light pattern shown on the charger or in the car.
- Photos of the cable, connector or outlet, if they show visible damage.
How this applies to EVIQO chargers
All five EVIQO chargers come with a 3-year standard warranty, and a 4-year extended warranty is available for an extra charge. This applies to the J1772 models for non-Tesla EVs and the NACS models for Tesla vehicles, and to both plug-in and hardwired options. Keep your proof of purchase for any of them, and use each charger as intended.
